Queen's Dinner and Light Sky With Fireworks
by: Bobby McDonald
The 2010 Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen Candidates joined Queen Kate Cody at Monday night's
annual Queen's Dinner.
It was Reigning Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen, Kate Cody, and her parents and grandparents, that invited Dairy Festival Board Members, 2010 Candidates and their parents, as well as the media, to the Hwy-154 country home of Wayne and Wanda Galyean, on Monday night for the annual Queen's Dinner. Guest enjoyed an "All-American" celebration around the pool, as the "Red, White, and Moo" theme of this year's celebration complemented the decorations.
Queen Kate was joined by her parents Kelly and Stacy Cody and grandparents, Wayne and Wanda Galyean
and Surene and Bob Cody, as they hosted Monday night's event.

Finger foods, iced tea, and lemonade began the night, with cheeseburgers and all the trimming providing the next course, and a sparkling red, white, and blue cake providing the dessert.
Guests were welcomed by Queen Kate and her parents, Stacy and Kelly Cody, with assistance from grandparents, Wayne and Wanda Galyean and Bob and Surene Cody. Stacy Cody, in his welcome, recounted a busy, busy year of float building, parades, milking contests, and pageants for parents of prospective queens. "I want you to know that I'm looking forward to handing over the queen's float, on Saturday night, immediately after the coronation!" joked Cody. "But, it has been a wonderful and fun-filled year for Kate and our entire family. We've met so many people, enjoyed the various activities, and learned to really appreciate the hard work that the Dairy Festival Board does for this community!"
Queen Kate Cody presented each of the 2010 candidates with a gift and wished each of them the best of luck.
Following the meal and speeches, everyone joined the Queen and her family around the pool for the "finale" of a spectacular fireworks display, overlooking a large lake on the property!
Dairy Festival events will begin with "in full force" on Friday morning, with the arrival of the first hot aire balloons, for a media flight, and continue with the first balloon glow and flights, on Friday evening at Shannon Oaks Church.

Then, Saturday features a full day of activities with hot aire balloons, the 5K Milk Run, the Dairy Festival Parade through downtown Sulphur Springs, the Ice Cream Freeze-Off, the Milking Contest, and another balloon glow and music. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend these events!
The beautiful fireworks show ended a wonderful evening at the Queen's Dinner.
