Mardi Gras Themed President's Day Festival

A speaker’s forum and festival will be held this Presidents Day February 15, 2010 beginning at 6:00 pm at the Hopkins County Civic Center in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  This is a National Holiday that celebrates the great leadership that our county has enjoyed and this year February 15th is the day before Mardi Gras so we are combining these two great events into the HOPKINS COUNTY FORUM AND FESTIVAL. 

This is the third election cycle in a row that a Presidents Day Forum has been sponsored in Hopkins County.  These previous events have been a great success.  These forums allow the voters to learn the views, opinions and personalities of the candidates. We look forward to this upcoming event being the largest and most entertaining one so far.  We have candidates speaking this year that are seeking federal, state and local offices.  There will be incumbents and those seeking open seats.  There will be seasoned professionals as well as first time candidates.  It is a fun experience and helps all of us to be better informed about the political process.

 

 

 

 

In addition to the outstanding speakers we will be serving delicious Mardi Gras style foods, with Cajun gumbo, jambalaya, many Louisiana style side dishes and desserts.  Your $10.00 ticket will not only entitle you to the delicious meal but it will put you into the drawing for a fabulous Remington 20 gauge over / under shot gun valued at over $600.00.  There will be a silent auction featuring festive gourmet meal experiences, pro sports tickets and even a horse drawn hay ride.  There will be a live auction of delicious home made baked goods and quilts.  We will even have Abe Lincoln and Sarah Palin look a likes who you can have your picture taken with.
