According to Sulphur Sprigns Chief of Police Jim Bayuk, the Sulphur Springs Municipal Swimming Pool is closed, while his forces complete a "fact finding mission," and will not be re-opened until the investigation is completed. "It's a precautionary measure to make certain that everything is safe at the pool," stated Bayuk, in a Tuesday morning interview.

Another interview with Pastor C.J. Duffey, who had been in contact with the family of Caleb Ryan Smith, the six year old, who was the victim of a near drowning incident at the pool, on Tuesday afternoon, reveals that the child is "improved" this morning. "I talked with the child's family this morning and they reported that he is still in a coma, but can hear what is said to him, but must remain sedated from the pain of the water in his lungs," advised Duffey. "The family just asks that everyone continue to pray for Caleb and his recovery from this accident!"

The child, Caleb Ryan Smith, is the son of Rochelle Scott and Jeremy Smith, of Sulphur Springs, and was rescued from the pool on Tuesday afternoon. He was immediately taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and soon transferred to Children's Medical Center, in Dallas, where he continues to be treated.

Check Front Porch News Texas for further updates on the child's condition, as they become available!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and his family!
