PJC Announces Continuing Education
Classes For December
Press Release from PJC
Paris Junior College Continuing Education Department will
offer a selection of classes during the first two weeks of December,
according to John Spradling, Vice President of Workforce Education.
Business
How to Start Your Own Business will be held from 9-11 a.m. on
Friday, December 4. This free seminar is for anyone who’s ever dreamed
of owning a business. Topics to be covered include legal requirements,
feasibility studies, forms of business ownership and their advantages
and disadvantages, the business plan, finding the money, what lenders
want to know, SBA loans, and other loan sources.
Parenting
The Kids Hurt Too seminar will meet from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday,
December 1. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the
needs of their children throughout the process of divorce. This
seminar is a supportive, educational session to assist parents with
the knowledge necessary to nurture their children through this
traumatic time in their lives. There is strong evidence that the way a
parent deals with the divorce directly affects the emotional response
of their children. The seminar does not address personal or legal
issues of the parent, and it is not a therapy session.
Leadership Series
Developing Others is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Friday, December 4. This course provides leaders, coaches, and mentors
with the necessary skills and a practical process to develop talent.
It focuses on a leader’s critical role before, during and after a
development plan.

cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
The Basic Life Support (CPR) Recertification for Health
Professionals will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, December 11.
This class offers an update and review for current CPR certified
cardholders. Written examination and successful demonstration of
skills is required to complete this class that is certified by the
American Heart Association.
Computing for Senior Adults (55+)
Computer Fun for Seniors will meet from 9 a.m. to noon,
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, December 7-11. This class will introduce
senior adults to the fun of playing games and working crossword
puzzles in the online newspaper format. It will also explain how to
determine if a site is a secure site. Participants will learn to play
many games and even how to play against opponents from around the world.
Child Care
An eight-hour childcare pre-service is required of all new
employees in regulated childcare facilities. The course is scheduled
on an individual basis. Call 903-782-0447 for more information.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or a GED.
