It was a large crowd of Hopkins County residents that traveled to the Pickton Community, on Saturday night, to enjoy what has become a seasonal celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Pickton United Methodist Church hosted their annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Auction, with turkey and dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet potatoes, and a selection of homemade desserts "to die for!"

"It's our annual fundraiser and outreach to the community," advised Pickton United Methodist member, Polly Swatsell. "We invite folks from all across Hopkins County and nearly everyone from the Pickton Community comes out in support of the effort. It's a great way to get into the Thanksgiving spirit!"

Following a delicious meal, the annual auction featured a number of baskets full of household items, homemade quilts, and other handmade items.

And, for entertainment, there was the traditional cake walk and other activities for "children" of all ages!

"We try to make it out to Pickton every year, to support this effort and enjoy all the good food and fellowship," commented a resident of the Gafford's Chapel Community. "It's our way of supporting the efforts of fellow Methodists in the Pickton Community!"

"This is my way of getting back 'home' and visiting with all of my friends," inserted a former Pickton resident, that now makes her home at Hopkins House. "You get to see and visit with everyone in the community!"
