The Pickton Community "got a jump" on the Thanksgiving holiday, when the Pickton United Methodist Church hosted their annual Thanksgiving Dinner, on Saturday night. The annual fundraiser for the church has become a tradition in the Pickton Community and is anticipated as an opportunity for the entire community to gather together, enjoy fellowship, and raise funds for the church. A complete Thanksgiving Dinner, with turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, giblet gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, hot rolls, and homemade dessert assured that no one went away hungry!

Following Saturday night's meal, an auction of handmade and basketed items was conducted to add additional funds.

"It's just a great time for everyone to come out, visit with their neighbors, and enjoy some great food!" advised Sissy Brumley. "We work for several days preparing the meal and it all comes together for a great way to begin the holiday season!"

"I'm probably one of the oldest members of the community, who comes out for the event, but I enjoy seeing everyone and getting to visit with them," expressed Mrs. Venice Turner. "We just don't visit anymore like we once did, so it's nice to see everyone!"
