"Pickin' In Pickton!"

It was another fun-filled night in Pickton, on Saturday night, when the Pickton Bluegrass Festival was hosted for the month. Three groups from across Texas made their way to the stage for a night of entertainment and "hand-clapping" music to delight the crowd.

"This has become a tradition for us," expressed one of Saturday night's patrons. "We look forward to the third Saturday night of each month, where we can come out and enjoy some old-fashioned, quality music, in Pickton!"

Saturday night's venue featured The Herzog Family from Bremond, Texas, Hwy-19 from Grapeland, Texas, and finished with a presentation by Hard to Get, from Paris, Texas. Both traditional songs and some new arrangements were presented by each of the three groups, as they took selections from the crowd and produced a quality show.

The doors for each performance open at 5:30 p.m. and the billing advertises that the show will be over by 9:30 p.m.

However, generally the music is so good and the crowd is begging for more, so the show will last longer.

"It's a great way to spend a Saturday night in Northeast Texas," expressed one lady, who had driven from Quitman. "I enjoy gathering my friends and making my way to this venue, each month! We have a great time and

hear some great music!"

Mark you calendar for the next venue, scheduled for May 16, 2009. Featured performers will include: "No Turning Back" from Burleson, Texas; "Bluefield Express" from Arlington, Texas; and "Copper Canyon" from Argyle, Texas. The show is always held in the Pickton Community Center and is produced by Floyd and Carol Favors. The sound is by Studio 222 of Sulphur Springs.
