It's time to take care of those traffic warrants! The Sulphur Springs Police Department is joining hundreds of Law Enforcement intities across the state in conducting a "Warrant Round-Up" on March 6th. Local officers will begin knocking on doors at 7:00 a.m. on March 6th, making arrest of those people who have outstanding traffic warrants in Sulphur Springs. "Our officers will be working all day long on March 6th, in hopes of clearing up some of the over 200 outstanding warrants on the books," advised Norman Colyer, with the Sulphur Springs Police Department.

"People can avoid being arrested if they will come in to City Court, on South Davis Street and take care of these warrants, sometime before March 5th at 5:00 p.m.," continued Colyer. "We're telling everybody ahead of time and hope that they will come in and take care of these warrants before we have to arrest them!"

According to the local department, people tend to "let the warrants slip" and find themselves with them outstanding, resulting in the embarrassment of being arrested and having to pay court costs, as well. "It's much more feasible to take care of them ahead of the deadline and get things right, before March 6th," advised Colyer. "We're just trying to get the word out, and avoid having to make the arrests on March 6th!"

Last year's "round-up" netted the local department close to $18,000.00 in fines, from the outstanding warrants!
