Early Thursday Morning Wreck
Claims Life of Young Hopkins
County Father
by: Bobby McDonald
A twenty-seven year old Dike man was killed early Thursday morning, when the 3/4 ton Chevrolet truck he was driving turned over on Fm-71, near the North Hopkins School. The call of a one vehicle wreck was reported at 3:00 a.m. and investigated by State Trooper Nick Moore with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Mikey Simray Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Justice of the Peace Ronny Glossup, in the pre-dawn hours, Thursday. Initial investigative reports indicate that Miller was headed to his girlfriend's house, that was nearby, and failed to negotiate a curve and over-corrected, flipping the vehicle. Reports indicate that he was not wearing a seat belt.
Family members reported that Miller was enroute to the girlfriend's house to transport her to a doctor's appointment in Oklahoma.
Miller leaves the fiance, an unborn child, and a young daughter, whose mother was killed in an automobile accident several years ago.
Funeral services for Mikey Miller are with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs and included on our Obituary Page.
