Dr. Calderin visits with several members of the community at Tuesday's
Reception honoring him and Dr. Deniz.

"We just can't believe how nice the people in Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County have been!" exclaimed Dr. Julio A. Calderin, as he spoke to a group of local residents gathered at a Tuesday afternoon reception at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. "We liked the town when Sandra and I decided to come here, but the reception we have received, since arriving has been wonderful! All of you have made us feel welcome and we're looking forward to a great experience working here in Hopkins County!"

Dr. Julio Calderin is a vascular surgeon and his wife, Sandra Deniz, is a general surgeon, and they joined the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Staff, about a month ago, as the latest new doctors. Both received their educations in Puerto Rico and have done extensive internships in the U.S.

"We're extremely excited to have Julio and Sandra as an addition to Hopkins County Memorial," expressed Joe Bob Burgin, a member of the local hospital board. "Their talent is outstanding, both having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Medical School and have extensive experience in surgery."

Dr. Calderin's education background included a Fellowship of Vascular Surgery at Northshore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York,  and Residency General Surgery from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and has performed clinical research in traumatic aortic disruption.

It looks like Dr. Sandra Deniz has already been "caught" by these community leaders, and
will certainly be "plugged'in" in several local organizations!

Dr. Sandra Deniz was a top ten graduate from her class and completed her Residency in General Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.

"We're excited about the move to Sulphur Springs and the warm reception that we've received here," expressed Dr. Deniz. "We want to make this our home and to become active participants in our community!"

And, I "spied" several community members already visiting with Dr. Calderin and Dr. Deniz at Tuesday's reception, so I'm certain they'll be "plugged-in" in a number of organizations and community events, before too long!

Welcome to Hopkins County,
Dr. Calderin and Dr. Deniz!!!
