NETLA Board Meets and Discusses
Upcoming Market Show
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a regular meeting of the Northeast Texas Livestock Association Board, in the Sulphur Springs High School Vocational Agriculture Building, on Monday night. The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Kevin Gibson, and a number of items were discussed, concerning the upcoming show.
The main item of discussion was to move the Sale of Champions time to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 26th, 2011. "We're doing this to accommodate the buyers," expressed Gibson. "The Ag Workers will be serving lunch instead of dinner and it will allow the buyers to get out earlier and not be so late selling the animals. This is a suggestion from the buyers to accommodate them and make it easier for them to attend!"
Area Vocational Agriculture teachers, Richard Watson and Lindsey Potts, from Miller Grove, and
Dannie Johnson of Sulphur Springs discuss some of the items at Monday night's meeting.

In other business, Chairmen of each of the species made reports on securing the judges and deadlines for validation, etc. There are 81 goats and 31 lambs validated for this year's show, and 34 steers have already been validated.
Swine validation is scheduled for November 23rd, and the order deadline for broilers is December 10th, with broiler delivery to be on January 12th.
In other action reports were heard from the Awards Committee, the Brochure Committee, Concession Stand Committee, and the Sale and Disposition Committees.
The meeting adjourned about 7:00 p.m., with individual committee chairmen working to finalise some individual items.
This year's Market Show will be held on February 24-26th, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, with the Sale of Champions on February 26th.
Jeff Massey, Animal Disposition Committee Chairman, and Johnny Lennon, Broiler Superintendent,
add their comments at Monday night's meeting.
