Inducts New Members, Monday Night

Monday night's induction ceremony began with the traditional candlelighting ritual.

 

 

The ceremony is basically the same that it has been for the past 30 years, at least, as new members are inducted in the Sulphur Springs High School Gladys Alexander Chapter of the National Honor Society. Students must attain levels of scholarship, render service to others, promote leadership, and develop character, as they go about their high school career. Students are eligible for membership their junior year of high school and remain a member until graduation, as long as grade levels are attained.

Monday night, NHS President, Emily Mason, directed the induction ceremony and reminded new members and current ones of their responsibility to serve others and promote literacy in the school and community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Second year members were introduced as: Tyler Aaron, Courtne Anderson, Taylor Ausbrooks, Kasey Blezinger, Bradyn Burney, Jessica Cowley, Jalie Eppars, Arthur Harbin, Frankiesha Hawkins, Leah Hayes, Cassie Long, Seth Maeker, Emily Mason, Kadi Moore, Syndi Nguyen, Pablo Olguin, Samantha Owens, Bailee Petty, Melissa Phillips, Kristin Ramsey, Megan Salters, Dallin Sant, Sarah Sapaugh, Kendall Stieber, Sara Walker, Ben Watson, Alissa Welch, and Ashley Wilburn.

Laine Anderson, Ariana Bravo, Alex  Buchanan, Chance Byrd, Gracie Cable, Victoria Calhoun, Marlee Canada, Colby Carter, Katy Chapman, Kason Childress, Katie Cooper, Katie Dougan, Allisa Doughtie, Allissa Figueroa, Kris Ford, Sarah Forsman, Kaylee Foster, Colton Frazier, Taylor Hale, Reagan Humphrey, Justin Johnson, Marissa Kelty, Hannah Kirby, Kade Koon, Meagan Livsey, Blake Macek, Megan Massey, Hannah McCampbell, Arron Pierce, Dara Ramos, Diana Sanchez, Rebecca Sehnert, Kalan Stewart, Blaine Surber, Ayana Taylor, Angel Tovar-Yanez, Kayla Townsend, Ashleigh Wallace, Kirstie Wallace, and Amy Webb.

 

 

 

New members were asked to recited the NHS Pledge: "I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected; I will be true to the principles for which it stands; I will be loyal to my school; and I will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character."

New members were congratulated by National Honor Society Sponsors, Gina Wilder and Gail Herman, and Principal John McCullough.

 

National Honor Society officers at SSHS include: Emily Mason, President, Frankiesha Hawkins, Vice-President, Sara Walker, Secretary, and Pablo Olguin, Treasurer.

Former members of the Gladys Alexander Chapter of NHS were recognized in the crowd and a reception was hosted following the induction ceremony.
