A Variety of Events at Tribute
to American Cowboy

You had to get up early to get the biscuits at Saturday's annual tribute to the American Cowboy, as locals came out to celebrate a variety of events, staged at the Hopking County Civic Center grounds. Near perfect weather, with cooler temperatures and cloudy, over-cast skies prevailed.

Breakfast from the chuckwagon was being served by 7:30 a.m. and plenty of campfire coffee greeted those who got there early, as the lined quickly formed. And, as folks enjoyed the early morning treats of sausage, eggs, and biscuits, a series of musical groups performed from the Coca-Cola Sound Stage. From Western Swing to Contemporary Country, the performers were joined by Cowboy poets and then, the first of a series of "gunfights" were displayed by "Texas Pistalaros," re-enactors, to the delight of the crowd.

Displays of horsemanship, quality music, and youth activities completed the morning's activities, with a dance staged at the VFW for Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
