Mt. Vernon Music to Present
Family Concert, December 11th

 

It’s story-time at Mount Vernon Music! Kids and their parents are invited to come to a captivating hour of musical story telling, as Debbie Ragsdale narrates delightful musical settings of The Road to Hamelin, The Three Little Pigs, and more, performed by double bassist Paul Unger, pianist Steven Harlos, and violinist Mark Miller. The concert begins at 11:00 a.m., on December 11th, at the Mount Vernon Music Hall. Children are admitted free. (Students 8th grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult ticket-holder.) Tickets are $10 for MVM members, $15 for non-members. Memberships in MVM start at $25 and are good for the entire season from June 1 through May 31.  Double bassist Paul Unger has held the position of assistant principal bass with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra since moving to Texas in 1995. In addition, his jazz abilities have put him on stage with such diverse artists as Kevin Eubanks, Ira Sullivan, Marchel Ivery and Bobby Shew. In addition to his musical work, he wrote and directed the multiple award- winning film The Last Supper, which appeared in more than a dozen festivals worldwide in 1998-99. He also composed the scores for the independent feature films Seventy-Eight and Deadroom. Mount Vernon Music is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2006 to further the performance of classical and other fine music in rural East Texas. MVM provides professional concerts for residents of nursing homes and senior centers throughout East Texas, and brings musical events to schools.
