Deadline For Showcase Performance
and Scholarship Applications

The Mount Vernon Music Association is looking for young east Texas singers and musicians for the 2010 Young Artists Showcase concert.
Soloists and ensembles are welcomed to submit an audition recording of the piece to be performed for the showcase. The audition piece can be submitted on cassette tape, CD or DVD.
Applicants can be of any age up to and including high school seniors. An application form is available online at www.mountvernonmusic.org/publicfiles/MVM_YA_SHOWCASE_APPL__FORM.pdf or by calling 903-563-3780.
An application fee of $10 for soloist with accompanist, or $15 for an ensemble is required. The fee, application form and audition recording must be submitted by Thursday, April 15.
The fees will be returned to three of the performers, or group of performers as "Performance Awards" at the concert. Awards will be $100 as first prize, $75 as second prize, and $50 as third prize.
The intent of the awards is to encourage and acknowledge excellence in music performance. The three recipients will be chosen from the performers at the Young Artists Showcase set for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23.
Mount Vernon Music Association is sponsoring a $1,000 college scholarship for an east Texas High School senior who is planning to major in music. The deadline to apply is also April 15. Go to the MVM website www.mountvernonmusic.org for more information on the scholarship.
Music scholarship announced for 2010
Graduating high school seniors planning to major in music are invited to submit an application for a chance at a $1,000 college scholarship.
The scholarship, sponsored by the Mount Vernon Music Association, will award the Mount Vernon Music Scholarship at their annual Youth Showcase concert in May. This is the second year for the scholarship program.

The winner of this year’s scholarship will be announced at the organization’s annual Young Artists Showcase concert. The showcase, featuring talented young musicians from across northeast Texas, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23. The event will be at Mount Vernon Music Hall, located at 402 Leftwich St., at the intersection of Yates St., in Mount Vernon, TX.
