They're "sharpening" their talents, purchasing clothes, and worried about all the accessories!.....It's almost time for the Ms. Hopkins County Senior Classic Pageant. And, for the nine "young" ladies who have entered, it's a time of excitement and promises to be a great show, on Friday night, July 23rd, at 6:00 p.m., in the Senior Citizens Center. "We've got some great talent and nine young ladies, who have been working hard to earn the title of Ms. Hopkins County," explained pageant coordinator, Karon Weatherman. "This is the first year for us to host this pageant in Sulphur Springs, and we're really excited about selecting a winner to represent our city in the Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant, in August!"

"We know that our ladies in Sulphur Springs are just as talented as those all across the state of Texas," continued Weatherman. "So, why shouldn't that be just one more title that we bring back to Hopkins County?"

These six "young" ladies are among those vying for the Ms. Hopkins County title, as they joined
Ms. Texas Senior Classic, Jimmie Wilson, on a recent visit to Sulphur Springs.

According to Weatherman, the nine women who have entered the contest, include: Stella Bagley, from Como; Donna Hamiter, from Sulphur Springs; Margaret Bays, from Sulphur Springs; Betty Landes, from Sulphur Springs; Helen Lunceford, from Cumby; Mrs. Wells from Rock Creek Health and Rehab Center; Virginia Tanton, from Sulphur Springs; Sandy Heisler, from Sulphur Springs; and Mary Edwards, from Sulphur Springs. "These ladies range in age from 61 to 84 years of age!" explained Weatherman. "And, they have some outstanding talent to share with the audience!"

Bagley, Hamiter, Bays, Landes, Lunceford, and Edwards will all be singing for their talent portion of the program, and Mrs. Wells, Tanton, and Heisler will be presenting a reading for their talent segment.

"Make plans to come out and cheer these women on, Friday night!" exclaimed Weatherman. "It's sure to be a wonderful show and an inspiration to everyone!"

In attendance at the local pageant, will be reigning Ms. Texas Senior Classic, Jimmie Wilson, from the Metroplex area, and Peggy Wagner, the state director for the Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant.

"We have a very qualified panel of judges, and expect the competition to be keen!" expressed Weatherman. "So, come lend your support and enjoy the show, as we crown the new Ms. Hopkins County Classic!"
