As expected when the boys from Miller Grove and the boys from Yantis, meet-up, it is always going to be an intense rivalry, as the two teams play scrimmage ball all summer against each other and become very, very competitive, as well as good friends. "There's always a since of competition between the two schools because they've played so much together," allowed veteran Miller Grove Basketball Coach, Gary Billingsley. "We love to come to Yantis and Yantis loves to come to our place just to 'sharpen our skills' and play against each other. It's a great rivalry and one that the boys always look forward to having!"

And, Tuesday night's match-up proved to be just that. The Hornets led the match-up 6-4 at the end of the first quarter with an intense quarter of defensive play. However, it was in the second quarter that the Hornets managed to move ahead of the Owls, scoring 15 points as opposed to the Owl's meager six points in the quarter. The Hornets led at halftime 21-10.

However, there was no let-up on the Yantis Owl's part, during the second half of the ballgame, as they came back strong. The third quarter found Yantis putting

11 points on the board, and only allowing the Hornets nine additional points. Then, during the fourth period, the Owls added another 13 points to their cause, but the Hornets managed an additional 14 points to win the game 44-34. The "flat" second quarter by the Owls, cost them the game.
