Local Banker and Eagle Scout, Tom Sellers, offered a brief history of the U.S. Scouting Program.

Friends and family members gathered at the Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church and Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, for a ceremony that named Michael James Law, the latest member of the elite Eagle Scout brotherhood. Law, a 2010 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, is the son of James and Gina Law, and the grandson of George and Barbara Law and Don and Pat Deaton, all of Sulphur Springs.

Saturday's ceremony featured a flag raising ceremony conducted by Color Guard members, Ty Rich, Andrew Moore, and Tanner Childers, with the "Pledge of Allegiance" being led by Will Horton, Senior Patrol Leader. Tom Seller, Eagle Scout and President of Alliance Bank, offered the Invocation.

The Welcome was extended by Bernie Beers, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and Ty Rich, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, led the group in the Scout Oath and Law.

Tom Sellers, returned to the podium and offered a brief history of the scouting program, denoting that Law's accomplishment was especially significant, as the U.S. Scouting Program was celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2010. The national program began in February 1910, and was modeled after a similar program in Great Britain.

Scoutmaster Tracy Johnson, presented Law with his Eagle Scout Badge and Local Eagle Scout, Jeff Massey, presented the "Eagle Challenge," encouraging Law to continue to learn, continue to serve, and achieve more challenging goals.

Then, Michael Law addressed the group, thanking his parents, Scout Leaders, and a number of friends for helping him complete his Eagle Scout Project and to get the necessary documentation completed.

Will Horton presented the Benediction and Bernie Beers denoted that Law joins an elite group  of less than 2% of Scouts, who attain the Eagle Scout. James Law, father of Michael Law, pinned his own Eagle Scout Badge on his son, that was received over 30 years ago.

A reception followed in the Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church.
