Living up to its expectations, action in Thursday's Miller Grove Invitational Basketball Tournament was intense, pitting some of the best teams in the area against each other and building toward what promises to be a great championship game on Saturday. Advancing to the winner's backet side of the tournament were: Whitewright, Lone Oak, Yantis, Saltillo, Chess, Winnsboro, Miller Grove, and Colleyville. Playing in the loser's bracket games on Friday, will be: Wolfe City, Savoy, Cooper, Celeste, Gateway, Cumby, Blue Ridge, and Chisum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Possibly the best game of the tournament, thus far, was the match-up between the Yantis Owls and the Cooper Bulldogs, as they went into overtime on Thursday afternoon, with Yantis becoming the victor with a score of 80-74. This pits the Owls against area rival, the Saltillo Lions, on Friday morning at 10:15, in what promises to be an outstanding game.

Whitewright defeating Wolfe City, 54-24

Lone Oak over Savoy, 71-12

Yantis over Cooper, in overtime, 80-74

Saltillo over Celeste, 60-23

Chess over Gateway, 56-49

Winnsboro over Cumby, 57-38

Miller Grove over Blue Ridge, 40-24
