"A Big Day at the State Fair"
For Miller Grove FFA Member
by: Bobby McDonald

It may have been raining outside, but inside the Swine Barn at the State Fair of Texas, on Thursday, the spirits were high, for Miller Grove FFA Senior, Shaye Lynn Emerick, who showed her heavy-weight market barrow to second place in her class of approximately 75 animals. "We knew that Shaye Lynn had a good pig, but we were totally blown away, and the excitement continued as she advanced in her class," exclaimed longtime Miller Grove FFA Advisor, Richard Watson. "Shaye Lynn did an excellent job of presenting her pig and he kept rising in the class. At one time, I thought she was going to 'walk away' with the very top spot!"

"Shaye Lynn and her family always do a good job of feeding and grooming their pigs, and have been in the 'winner's circle' numerous times at the local Hopkins County Market Show, but it is really something to take a pig to the State Fair of Texas and place this well," continued Watson. "The competition is extremely 'stiff' with pigs from all across the state of Texas!"

Several youth from the Miller Grove FFA Chapter were exhibiting their livestock at the State Fair of Texas, this week, but Shaye Lynn's placing was the very best of the lot.

Congratulations to Shaye Lynn
on her big win at the State Fair of Texas!!!
