Miller Grove Elementary will hold its annual Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Roundup beginning Monday, March 23- April 3, 2009. You may register your child during the school day at the Elementary Office.
Enrollment will not be complete without all of the following documentation.
All students must have: birth certificate; Social Security card; all immunization records showing the child is up to date on all shots; and proof of residency in the district, preferably a tax statement. Transfer applications will be available during Roundup for those wishing to apply.
In order to be eligible to enroll in pre-kindergarten, the child must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, while kindergartners must be 5 on or before Sept. 1.
To qualify for tuition-free pre-kindergarten class, a child must meet one of the following: be unable to speak and comprehend the English language; be educationally disadvantaged by meeting National School Lunch Program eligibility standards; be homeless; be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military, "military" forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military, i.e.. "Military" forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or have ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing.
Tuition based Pre-Kindergarten is also offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Students who qualify will be given precedence. Tuition has yet to be set for the 2009-2010 school year.
