Miller Grove FFA Hosts Annual
Thanksgiving Lunch, Sunday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes, and rolls, along with dessert, that the Miller Grove FFA members prepared and served as a chapter fundraiser on Sunday at noon. The lines began forming shortly after 11:00 and by 12:30, they extended out the door, as patrons from the western side of Hopkins County came out in support of the effort. "It's a great place to eat and the food is always great!" explained one of the patrons, in line. "I guess one reason it is always so good is that you don't have to cook it yourself!"
"It's one of our chapter fundraisers that helps us to take kids to the livestock shows, leadership contests, national convention, state convention, and various other activities throughout the year," advised Miller Grove Vocational Agriculture Teacher, Richard Waston.

"No one else was doing a community-wide dinner at Thanksgiving, so we decided to 'fill that gap' and use it as a way of getting everyone together and us preparing a good meal," explained Lindsey Potts, the other Vocational Agriculture Teacher. "This way everyone can leave church, enjoy a great dinner, and visit with their friends and neighbors, here in the community!"
The Miller Grove FFA members and their parents prepared the meal and served approximately 200 meals, some of them "take-out" for the community members who weren't able to come to the school cafeteria, where the lunch was served.

"It's a lot of work, but it's something the kids enjoy and the community enjoys, and it provides funds to do our chapter's work," continued Watson. "Anytime you can get the community together, it's always fun and everyone enjoys it!"
