Miller Grove Hornets Fall to Caddo Mills
In Warm-up Game, Saturday, in Royce City
by: Bobby McDonald
It was an overtime disappointment for the Miller Grove Hornets, who had led most of the regular game, as they suffered a loss to the Caddo Mills Foxes, in preparation for their basketball play-off quest. The Hornets traveled to Royce City for a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday, where they dominated the game up until the final two minutes of regular play. Then, a miraculous three-point shot by a Caddo Mills Fox, threw the game into overtime, and the Hornets couldn't come away with the win!
The game began with Miller Grove outscoring the Foxes 11-9 during the first quarter. Then, during the second period the Hornets really put on the pressure and led the match-up at 32-23, following the second period.

The third period found the Foxes adding 9 points to their effort and holding the Hornets to only 6 points.
And, even though the Hornets led for most of the fourth period, a last second "three-pointer," that circled around the rim, managed to fall into the basket and threw the game into overtime with a 47-47 score.

The Hornets maintained a balance attack but failed at a couple of free throws and the Foxes pulled-off the 55-52 upset.
"We've got to work on our free-throws," exclaimed Coach Gary Billingsley. "And, we've got to play hard to the end! Hopefully, we're learning from these close ballgames and the 'sting' will pay-off as we enter the play-offs!"
Miller Grove drew a "bye" in the first round of the play-offs and will face Kennard, on Friday night, as they enter play-off action!
Best of Luck, Miller Grove Hornets,
in the Play-Offs!!!
