"So You Think You Can Dance?"

"NO!!!"

Ardis Dance Instructors, Sharron Burney and Chelsea Smith, certainly have their work "cut-out" for them, this week, especially if they think they can "shape-up" the male dance troupe in time for Saturday night's Man Pageant! With only a week to go, before the curtain opens, they were attempting to create something "noteworthy" from a bunch of "yahoos" this past Saturday afternoon. Among the hopefuls, were Mayor Gary Spraggins, Seth McDaniels, Pat Chase, City Councilman Freddie Taylor, Tory Humphries, Norman Colyer, and Wayne Davenport. Jeff Wilson, City Councilman Oscar Aguilar, and Dave Graves, either decided they already had the "moves" down, or couldn't make practice on Saturday.

"It's certainly going to be a challenge!" allowed Burney, as she tried to get the motley crew to take their places on the floor.

"And, it wasn't much better, when the music started!" allowed Smith. "This is going to take some work!"

The dance hopefuls, who will be appearing on stage, Saturday night, November 14th, at 7:00 p.m., to raise funds for the Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial, have plans to perform the routine to "Single Ladies....Put a Ring on It!"

However, about all they had "down" late Saturday afternoon was the "ring" part. They could move around in a circle!"

"This is much harder than it looks!" bemoaned Seth McDaniels. "But, my buddy here, Wayne, seems to have his moves down pretty good. I think I'll just follow his lead!"

And, they say, "Black Boys have the rhythm..." but City Councilman and community leader, Freddie Taylor, was having some difficulty with some of his moves! "With a house full of women and girls, I'm sure they'll help me 'get it right' by Saturday night!" assured Taylor.

Some were already comparing Taylor to Michael Irvin, on "Dancing With the Stars," and we don't know if that was a complement or not!

Taylor, of course, comes with "heavy pressure," being the father of the SSHS Homecoming Queen and First Runner-Up in the Dairy Festival Pageant. Everyone seems to be "looking forward" to his talent presentation!

Then, there was former Mayor and City Councilman, Oscar Aguilar, who is hopeful that "twice is a charm," as he enters the contest for the second year. "Twice Scorned ain't going to be pretty!" expressed current mayor, Gary Spraggins. "But, Oscar hasn't got a chance, when I get my moves perfected for Saturday night!"

Pat Chase advised that he'll be "singing and dancing the night away" come Saturday night! (We're seriously doubtful at this stage!)

Norman Collier was really working hard on his "finale" in the group dance portion of the show, with hopes of "dazzling" the judges. However, with distinguished judges from Winnsboro, Cooper, and Greenville, as well as a local real estate lady, who has family members who are former contestants, it's going to be rather difficult!

Toward the end of the afternoon practice session, all agreed that it was possibly Wayne Davenport, who was showing more promise with the dance moves. Watch the video to make your own judgement!

Make plans to attend Saturday night's show, to see who is crowned the new Mr. Hopkins County!

And, lest you forget just how "lovely" some of these contestants can be......
