
Memorial Hospital Announces Integration
With Medical Surgical Clinic

On November 1, 2010, the Hopkins County Hospital District and the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital finalized the integration of Memorial Physician Services and Sulphur Springs Medical Surgical Clinic. These two clinics are now operating under the new name Memorial Clinic. Community Care at Memorial will also become part of Memorial Clinic.
The parent company, Hopkins County Physician Services, will oversee the operation of the new Memorial Clinic. Jim Bakken, FACMPE, has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer for the organization.
J. Darryl Doughtie, M.D., Chairman of Hopkins County Physician Services stated, “We are excited to combine the medical talents of the physicians of the two organizations. Now family practitioners, specialists and other healthcare professionals can work together to strengthen health care in our community and the surrounding areas.”

According to Michael McAndrew, CEO of Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, “It is essential that our hospital and local physicians and providers work in concert to provide affordable, quality medical care. We believe this new partnership creates a strong foundation to do just that.”
I.L. Balkcom, M.D., Medical Director of the Sulphur Springs Medical and Surgical Clinic, noted, “As a family practitioner I look forward to a strong partnership that promotes teamwork and communication between my fellow providers and the hospital – all resulting in better care for my patients.”
Over the next several weeks, new signage will appear reflecting the new Memorial Clinic. All telephone numbers, appointment schedules and access to your doctor and the nursing staff will remain unchanged.
