Medina Brings Gubernatorial Race
to Hopkins County, Tuesday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a large crowd of local supporters that greeted Texas Gubernatorial Candidate, Debra Medina, to Hopkins County, on Tuesday afternoon, as she made a "campaign swing" through Sulphur Springs. "We'd have had a larger crowd, if we'd had more notice that she was coming, with some more advance," indicated Donnie Wisenbaker, County Republican Chairman. "But, we had a nice crowd and many folks indicated that they really liked her platform and what she is standing for!"
Medina, a South Texas native from Wharton, is running on the Republican ticket, challenging Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchinson. "I feel strong families are the heart of our great state," declared Medina. "Government must resist interfering in our families. We Texans must support the fundamental rights of parents to determine what is in the best interest of their children. All government policies must be crafted to support the stability of the family and to refrain from undermining it!"
Medina stated her position on the issues in the Texas Governor's race and
fielded questions from the group gathered on Tuesday afternoon, at Comfort Suites,
in Sulphur Springs.
Medina stated that she was one of those people who had no plans to run for Texas Governor, only a short time ago. However, she was asked to run by supporters and took her campaign of conservative and practical values "on the road." "I'm living proof that anyone who cares about the state of Texas and the path that our government is headed, can be a candidate for the highest state office," stated Medina. "A short time ago, I was a mom at home homeschooling my two children, and here I am standing before you asking for your vote. I'm Pro-Life period! Life begins at conception and concludes at natural death. Every human is created in the image of God. God, not man is the measure of all things. Every human life is precious and I will work to protect innocent human life!"

"I'm a common sense candidate for Texas Governor, in a grassroots effort to bring our message to Austin," expressed Medina, as she received large applause from the local audience. "I'm against using Executive Orders to force vaccination on our daughters, with a dangerous vaccine, as one of my opponents did. I think that's infringing on parental rights, that we have the right to make a decision on!"
Meanwhile, local Congressional Candidate, John Cooper spoke to the group gathered, about his campaign for the seat currently held by Congressman Ralph Hall. Cooper outlined how he felt that the current congress was abusing authority and doing things that were unconstitutional. He pledged his support to uphold the U.S. Constitution and campaign for change in our government.
Local Congressional Candidate, John Cooper, outlined the things that were included in his
platform and asked for the support of local voters, as he attempts to unseat Congressman Ralph Hall.
The afternoon gathering ended with local supporters being able to ask questions of the candidates and discuss the issues, at the local Comfort Suites.
