"Mary's Back to Horse Racing"

by: Bobby McDonald

"I'm back to racing horses!" exclaimed Mary Bonham, this week. "It just gets in your blood and won't let go!

Mary Bonham is excited to be back in the horse racing industry, as she and Richard Rowan, who has over 28 years experience in the racing industry, have joined forces and begun another racing adventure. "It's just like life, the business has its ups and downs, but hopefully we're on a 'run,' now!" exclaimed Mary. "We have 89 mares and 2 stallions at our Rafter L Stables, in partnership with Rowan, and will have three horses running this Saturday!"

"We have 36 two and three year old racing prospects and have them at several locations throughout the U.S.," continued Mary.  "I'm headed out this weekend to watch them race!"

Mary informed us that she will first be in Keenling where they have "Machisa" running in a $250,000.00 Graded Stakes Race, on Sunday. "Machisa has already won two races, as a two-year old and he's the one that I feel is the best prospect," advised Mary. "He won an allowance race and a $100,000.00 Fasig-Tipton Turf Dash at Calder Race Track, so he looks good, thus far!"

Additionally, Mary will be watching the action at Calder Race Track on Sunday, where they have "Ativa" and "Emocia," both two-year olds, running. "Ativa" will be in the first race of the day, and "Emocia" will be in the last race of the day.

"Hopefully we'll be in the winner's circle, this weekend!" expressed Mary. "I'm going to be yelling and persuading them all I can!"

"You don't realize how exciting it is to see a horse that you've raised and followed from the time it is born on your farm, then went to train, and then runs in the race," related Mary. "When you can see the progress the horse makes and see all of the planning and preparation come to fruition in the few short seconds that it takes the race to be won or lost, it is a thrilling experience!"

Mary invites anyone that wants to join her in the excitement to follow the races, this weekend, as they will be televised. Check T.V. listings for weekend schedules.

Best of Luck,
This Weekend, Mary!!!
