"Little Bo Peep" Found Her Sheep
by: Bobby McDonald
Reports of a lost show lamb were filtering around Hopkins County, on Friday morning, when Steve Blezinger, a resident of Hopkins County Rd. 4711, looked out his back window and saw a lamb on his back porch. The lamb had a "show sock" around it's neck and Blezinger immediately knew that it was someone's 4-H or FFA Project. He called the Hopkins County Extension Office and reported the lamb.
"We knew immediately that it was some student's show lamb, with the sock around it's neck and it had a tag in it's ear," reported Blezinger. "And, we didn't want anything to happen to a student's project!"
Calls began frantically going out to FFA Instructors and 4-H Leaders, and to students who might live in the area. Well, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the owner of the lamb was located. The family has just moved to Hopkins County and the show lamb had gotten out of its pen, traveling down the road. The mother of the student rescued the lamb and it was returned, unharmed to its pen!
Thanks to all who helped to locate the owners and participated in the rescue!
