Honoree

Tom and Pam Sellers, co-chairs of the 5th Annual Lights of Life Campaign & Gala and the committee are excited to announce that Ms. Mary Bonham will be recognized as the Gala Honoree at this year’s event.  “With the theme being “The Royal Touch”, we felt because of all that Mary Bonham has given back to the community, she was the perfect choice for the recognition” said Pam Sellers.  “Her passion and loyalty to the community goes above and beyond what is expected and we are honored to recognize her for her service and many contributions she has made to the community.”

"I'm honored to be asked to be a part of the 2010-11 Lights of Life Gala," expressed
Mary Bonham, on Wednesday afternoon. "I know of hardly any family in the greater
Hopkins County area that hasn't at some time needed the health care facilities we
offer, whether it be for the birth of a new baby or treating and helping the aged."

Celebrating the fifth year of the Lights of Life Gala is a special milestone for the Health Care Foundation.  The Health Care Foundation developed the first gala in December 2006 and in the past four years a portion of the funds raised from the campaign have been used to build The Gardens at Memorial, the Children’s Therapy Gardens, and helped to purchase a new digital mammography machine for the hospital.  In addition, $10,000 has been given to Hospice at Memorial to help with patient care and $2,500 has been given to Community Care to help with patient services.

The committee has been working hard since April and excitement is building for the 5th annual Lights of Life Campaign which will officially kick-off on Tuesday, November 2, at 10a.m. in the Plaza at Memorial.  As in the past, a $25 donation given in “honor or memory” of someone special will be used to help light the Lights of Life Christmas tree that is placed in The Gardens and will be lit on December 2nd at 6p.m.  The goal for the campaign this year is $110,000 with a portion of the funds raised being used to purchase a much needed handicap accessible van for Hospice at Memorial and C.A.R.E./Rehab patients.  “We are excited to report that we are well on our way to reaching and possibly surpassing our goal” stated Pam Sellers, co-chair of the campaign.   “We are blessed to have such caring people and businesses in Hopkins County who continue to support our efforts” stated Pam.  “The gala committee is working hard to make sure the event will be another fun filled evening of fine dining, dancing and bidding on great live and silent auction items.    The gala scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 6:00p.m. at the Civic Center will be filled with “royal touches” throughout the evening providing “The Royal Touch” for all the guests.  With a maximum capacity of 500 guests, the event is quickly becoming another “sold out” event!
