THIRD ANNUAL SULPHUR SPRINGS LIONS CLUB

CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE PRESENTED BY DUNCAN DISPOSAL

As the season of giving approaches, the Sulphur Springs Lions are making plans for a bigger and brighter Christmas Light Parade.

The Third Annual Sulphur Springs Lions Club Christmas Light Parade will be held in downtown Sulphur Springs on the evening of December 4th.  As the city lights go out, the parade entries, which are required to be lit up with working Christmas lights, will bring Christmas cheer to those lining the parade route.

“We are expecting a bigger and even brighter parade this year” said John Campbell, Lions Club parade chairman.  “The parade participants never cease to amaze me with their ingenuity and enthusiasm with their entries.”

New for the parade this year will be an association with the Empty Stocking and Blue Santa, both charities that provide toys and gifts to needy children in Hopkins County.  “We will be collecting new toys and cash donations during the parade route,” stated Jason Tully, Lions Club President.  “What a blessed opportunity we have to bring joy to the community during this time of the year with the parade and to help provide a Christmas to those kids who may not have had one.”

As before, entries will be judged in two categories, commercial and non-profit entries.  Cash awards will be given in each category, $2,000 for 1st, $1,000 for 2nd, and $500 for 3rd. A plaque will also be awarded to the winner of the Mayor’s Choice Award.

The Lions Club would like to give a special thanks to Duncan Disposal/Republic Waste, the Title Sponsor, and to Carriage House Manor, the Presenting Sponsor, City National Bank and FEC Electric, Partnering Sponsors, and Alliance Bank, the Accommodating Sponsor, for their support and sponsorship of the parade.

The Sulphur Springs Lions Club meets at noon on Tuesday at Pizza Inn at 1320 Mockingbird Lane.
