"A Heartbreaking End to a Glorious Season"
Lady Trojans Fall in Grand Saline, Tuesday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a "heartbreaking end to a glorious season," as the Cumby Lady Trojans traveled to Grand Saline, on Tuesday night to meet the Overton Lady Mustangs, in Regional Quarterfinals Volleyball action. The Lady Trojans, after winning area Competition on Saturday night were 29-5 for the season and had a perfect 12-0 record. The Lady Mustangs, of Overton, were 25-12 on the season and 10-0 in district competition.
Tuesday night found the Lady Trojans not in their best form, as they lost the first set 15-25, seeming to not communicate on the court, as they had so expertly done, on Saturday night, in area competition.
However, the Lady Trojans "bounced back" and won the second set with an impressive string of serves, 25-19. Then, on both the third and fourth games, it was an evenly matched showing by both teams, however the Lady Trojans missed the breaks and both games ended in favor of the Lady Mustangs 25-21 and 25-21.
"It was a great, great season, for the Lady Trojans," remarked one fan, who had followed them all season. "And, what is wonderful, there is not a senior on the team. All of the girls are sophomores and juniors and will be coming back next year!"
It looks like some more great volleyball action in Cumby, as they come back home and look forward to basketball, and next year's volleyball action!

Enjoy these photos from Tuesday night's action in Grand Saline!

Congratulations, Lady Trojans,
On a GREAT Season!!!!
