Everyone predicted an intense game as Tina Carrillo, new coach at Yantis, brought her Lady Owls to Miller Grove, on Tuesday night. The rivalry has always been great, and it was even more "keen," when Lady Hornets coach, Jennifer Payne, had made the move from Yantis to Miller Grove, following last season. "The stakes were high" and the girls played with the intensity that was predicted.

The Lady Owls lead 28-22 at the half-way mark of the game, with some outstanding three-point shots by Lady Owl, Shelby Allen.

The Owls increased their lead to an eleven-point advantage, during the third period, as the score reflected a 42-31 lead for the Lady Owls.

And, when the final buzzer sounded, the Miller Grove Lady Hornets had worked on the difference, giving the Lady Owls only a 50-43 win.

"This is what basketball is all about!" declared Carrillo, following the game. "The stands were shouting and on their feet and both teams were playing their heart out, to try to claim a victory!"

Shelby Allen, #20, led the Lady Owls' assault on Tuesday night.
