Junior PBR Futurity Involves
Youth in Sport of Bucking Bulls

"Widowmaker," owned by Matt Jack, bucked hard enough to win his owner a
second-third place split and $1,000.00 and a top genetics heifer.

It was a group of exciting youth that brought their bulls to the Hopkins County Civic Center, in hopes of winning the $10,000.00 grand prize, for first place in the Junior PBR Futurity. The youth have bred, fed, and cared for the bulls that they brought to this prestigious event.

The bulls had names such as "Fearless Fred," "Widowmaker," "Ice Cream Paint Job," " Dr. Performance," and "Rock Star." Then, there was "Smoked Onion," "Buckin' Nightmare," and "Misery Business." However, the youth that named their bull "Money Pits," probably had the right idea, as these young bulls are the best in the breed, among youth breeders in the PBR. These bulls are owned and shown by those individuals under 21 and feature the top genetics in the bucking bull industry.

"Ice Cream Paint Job," owned by Rex Samford, took his owner to the winner's
circle, on Saturday morning, as he split second and third in the competition.

Saturday morning's PBR Futurity was some exciting action in the arena of the Hopkins County Civic Center, as the youth of the organization brought their top bulls to compete in the Junior Futurity. "It's an opportunity for the youth to enter their entries and compete for both prize money and some outstanding prizes, provided by our sponsors," exclaimed Jim McClain. "The sponsors of PBR recognize the need for continuing to cultivate an interest in PBR bucking bulls and feel that this is the unique way to provide the incentive to youth to breed some of the best bulls in the breed. Prizes will include heifers donated by some of our sponsors and the grand prize of $10,000.00 to the winner of the event! It doesn't get much more competitive than that!"

Splitting the second and third prize, of $1,000.00 and a heifer furnished by Superior Genetics of Emory, Texas, was Mark Jack's "Widowmaker," and Rex Samford's "Ice Cream Paint Job!"
