Sulphur Springs ATA Martial Arts Students Win Big

The hard work and dedication shown throughout the year has paid off in Championship titles for Sulphur Springs ATA Martial Arts. ight students won a combined total of fifteen Texas State Championships over the 2018-2019 competition season. Students compete in tournaments for the entire year and are awarded points based on their results at each one. The person with the highest point total at the end of the season is named State Champion.

Winning 2019 Texas State Championships are:
Daron Bilyeu, Janie McMackin, Ethan Morrison, Charles Nash, Kadence Nash, Dequavian Person, Brenna Tinsley, and Taanya Weir.

All students who finish the year in the top ten for the state of Texas are invited to compete at the South District Championship on June 7-8 in Mesquite, TX. The District Championship Tournament brings the best of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana together to compete. Sulphur Springs ATA will have 24 students eligible to compete this year. These students are Daron Bilyeu, Alexis Coffman, Abel Leake, Nathanael Leake, Joel Leake, Blanton Mayes, Janie McMackin, Michelle Mejia, Chris Miles, Ethan Morrison, Kadence Nash, Charles Nash, Dequavian Person, Corey Shadix, Maddie Sprague, Karisma Stegient, Harleigh Stegient, Logan Stegient, Rebecca Tamsma, Braden Tinsley, Brenna Tinsley, Daniel Wagers, Tayler Wilson-Calhoun, and Taanya Weir.
