John 11:35-37
35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”

Today’s text is one of the most overly interpreted passages all of scripture. Whether you see it as being all about Jesus’ humanity, God’s timing, Jesus’ obedience to God and not the pressure’s of man’s opinion, etc., there are any number of lessons or messages that can be drawn from it. But have you ever considered the fact that Jesus was seeing His own coming death and resurrection being played out right in front of Him? Everything from Lazarus being dead for a lengthy amount of time to the rolling away of the stone was an eerily similar foreshadowing of what was about to take place in Jesus’ own life. The moment of truth was about to happen. If He couldn’t raise Lazarus then would it even be possible for Him to be resurrected? Even though Jesus was God, He laid that divinity aside in order to be an example of how God’s children could walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. What do you think His humanity was telling Him at that moment? What would your mind be doing at that moment? There would undoubtedly be all kinds of crazy thoughts and ‘what if’s’ bouncing around inside your head. Jesus was dealing with those exact same thoughts. This moment was going to set a precedent for what He was about to personally face. Even thought His emotions were all over the place, Jesus still stepped out in faith and let God do the miraculous through Him. When you are faced with the decision to step out and do something for the Lord and you feel the nerves and doubts begin to build, know that Jesus went through the exact same thing. He is your example and He showed you just how awesomely God can move through someone who steps out in faith to bring glory to the Father. He’s got you, He believes in you, and you can do amazing things through Him. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
