Philippians 1:9-10
9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.
One of the advantages of being a believer is that you have been given the Holy Spirit’s ability to discern. This doesn’t simply mean that you’re smart or wise. Discernment is the ability to see the truth of a situation, even when it may be clouded by all kinds of distractions and lies. You, with His help, can reveal the root cause or issue of a problem even when the lies of the enemy are in place to protect it. Discernment will protect you when the enemy is trying to sneak in and disrupt your life. Just think how differently things would be if Adam had operated with discernment when the serpent appeared. The Lord has a standard of excellence set up for those who follow Him, but because His children are not discerning they end up settling for far less than the best that God has. When God puts something in front of someone, the enemy will come in with something that seems better at the moment so that God’s will doesn’t take place. Too many believers settle for good things when they could be receiving God things. The next time that you’re presented with an opportunity, ask the Holy Spirit to help see past anything that might be trying to cloud your judgement and possibly lead you somewhere the you don’t need go. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
