Memorial services for Daniel “Dan” Elwood Hinton, Jr., age 76, of the Arbala Community, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Arbala United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeremy During officiating. Interment will follow at Arbala Cemetery. Dan who passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on April 5, 1942 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Daniel E. Hinton, Sr. and Mildred Morine (Tanton) Hinton.  He was married to Joy King who preceded him in death.  During his life, Dan worked for Amoco Oil in field operations and he served in the National Guard, both for over 40 years before he retired. When not working and serving his nation, Dan enjoyed taking care of the family farm, and his mother before her death, as well as spending time helping others, having coffee at the Whataburger and talking with everyone in town. Dan was also a longtime leader of the Arbala Cemetery and attended the Freedom Church of God, as well as Seymore Bible Fellowship. He is survived by his brother, Charles Hinton of Harrison Township, MI; stepchildren, Jill (Mark) Mayse Ward and Jeff Mayse; step grandchild, Jacey Ward; nieces Lynn (Dave) Harrison, Kimberly (Craig) Plesco, and nephews Todd Hinton and Charles Hinton Jr along with six great-nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Buford Ray “Bo” Hinton and Roger Carl Hinton.Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
