FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MORTIE STEVEN (STEVE) KING, AGE 70, OF MINEOLA, WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, AT BEATY FUNERAL HOME IN MINEOLA, WITH THE REVEREND REGGIE DAY OFFICIATING.  VISITATION WILL COMMENCE ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE.

STEVE WAS BORN ON SEPTEMBER 25, 1948, IN PITTSBURG, TEXAS, TO TRAVIS LAMAR KING AND WIFE, HORTENSE KING.  STEVE DIED IN TYLER, TEXAS, ON FEBRUARY 21 OF COMPLICATIONS FROM DIABETES.

STEVE AND HIS FAMILY WERE LONG-TIME RESIDENTS OF SULPHUR SPRINGS, WHERE HE GRADUATED FROM SULPHUR SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL IN 1967.  STEVE RETIRED SEVERAL YEARS AGO FOLLOWING A LONG CAREER AS A TEACHER AND COACH IN MINEOLA, BIG SANDY, ALLEN, AND EMORY RAINS.  STEVE WAS AN ARMY VETERAN, HAVING SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE JUNGLES OF VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA.

STEVE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, HIS TWIN BROTHER, MIKE, HIS SISTER, PATTI SUE RENFRO, AND HIS PARTNER, LYNDA MIZE.   HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SISTER, BOB ANN CUMBERLAND, OF SAN ANTONIO.
