1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
What is it that motivates you to do good? Are you seeking to bless, or are you trying to impress. If many good works or acts had to be done without being seen, they would never get accomplished. Think about the last time you did something good for someone and the only person who knew about it was the recipient. Did you feel slighted because no one else got to see or hear about what you did? You may have started out just wanting to be a blessing, but after the effort was put out and the work was done, you began to feel like your weren’t thanked well enough or that the recognition wasn’t what it should have been. This is a good indicator that the work was really done by you and not through you. The Lord wants to do great things in and through you…always. But the fact that He wants you to be His vessel should be reward enough. Think about it like this. Almighty God Himself, wants to give you the honor of escorting Him into the lives of those who need Him most. He sees you fit to be His representative to the world. The fact that He sees, recognizes, credits you for what you do is by far the greatest reward you could ask for. He never let’s any act of love go without it’s reward. The next time you have an opportunity to do good, do it, regardless of what may or may not happen on the other side. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
