YOUR TEXAS AGRICULTURE MINUTE: What does a Christmas list look like for farmers, ranchers? Presented by Texas Farm Bureau’s Mike Miesse

What do Texas farmers and ranchers want for Christmas?

Well, of course, red tractors, green combines and a working four-wheeler probably make the list.

But Santa’s pockets aren’t that deep.

What shows up most on farmers’ and ranchers’ Christmas wish lists, though, is good weather. This year has been a real challenge – dealing with Mother Nature. Not enough rain to torrential downpours and flooding. We’ve seen all of that.

They also want fat calves, good crops and better prices. They’d like to see farm income rise out of its slump. Good trade relationships shouldn’t be too much to ask for either.

Farmers and ranchers also wish consumers had a better understanding of what they do and realize America is food-secure because of it.

And they want the same as the rest of us—healthy families, peace on earth and goodwill to men.

We sure hope Santa is listening.
