Matthew 6:10-11
10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Nothing Jesus ever said or did was by mistake or without purpose. When you read the Bible, because it’s broken up into chapter and verse, it’s easy to compartmentalize and disassociate ‘verses’ that were meant to establish the same idea. Today’s text is a good example of that. As Jesus was teaching those on the Mount of Olives how to pray, He wasn’t giving a list of bullet points on the topic of prayer. When He said to ask for God to give daily bread immediately following His proclaiming that the Kingdom come He was establishing an important truth. The Kingdom was not going to be built on random and sporadic miracles and extraordinary events. The Kingdom of God was to be a part of the believer’s everyday life. He was teaching that God will provide for the daily needs of those who are about taking care of His Kingdom’s business. Supernatural exploits are definitely going to have their place and play their part, but the Kingdom will be built upon the daily lives of those who fully seek after Him, not the miraculous. Your daily life, your family, your job, your church, everything in your sphere of influence should be affected by the Kingdom within you. As you seek to be who He’s called you to be to those around you, He will provide for any and every need that will arise. Maybe it will involve the miraculous, maybe it won’t. Whatever that day requires, He will be faithful to see that you have what you need to see His Kingdom come and His will be done. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
