A 32 year old El Paso man was arrested yesterday on I-30 for Money Laundering-Greater than $30,000 but less than $150,000. Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Luis Leyva after 28 bundles of United States currency were discovered in his vehicle.

After being stopped for traffic violations, Leyva gave conflicting stories about his travel. He denied consent to search his vehicle and a K9 unit was called out. K9 alerted on the vehicle even though the money had been doused in cologne to cover the scent. The currency was rubberbanded and concealed within clothing in a black duffel bag.
