Sheriff Lewis Tatum reports that trustees from the Hopkins County Jail assisted by a local contractor are finishing a new sidewalk today that will connect the new courtroom to the back of the jail. This will provided easy access to the back of the new courtroom so inmates will not have to be transported to the courthouse on the square.

A local contractor agreed to assist one of the trustee crews and showed them how to pour concrete and all the procedures for what it takes to complete the process. This is just another skill the trustees may be able to use when they get out of jail and hopefully enter the workforce. The process was paid for by the inmates commissary fund.
