1 Samuel 22:3-4
3 And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.” 4 And he left them with the king of Moab, and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

Many people allow their hearts to be hardened because they deny true forgiveness to those who have wronged them. While they may be in place of cordiality with the other party, they still harbor some ill will toward them. True forgiveness means that your thoughts for them are for their good and benefit. David, while having justifiable reasons to not take care of the family that spoke so poorly of him, actually made arrangements for them to be cared for and protected. The true test of forgiveness is not in whether or not you can tolerate being near them but whether or not you would do good toward them. Would you go out of your way to help them if you were able to? Do you genuinely want to see them succeed? If not, you need to continue to work on releasing them. This is exactly what Jesus did for you. He didn’t just do enough to keep you out of hell, he gave you all Heaven had to offer along with it. True forgiveness means you’re able to seek the good for someone, not just let them off the hook for something that may have offended you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you anyone who you may be withholding forgiveness from. You will come away with a greater sense of joy and freedom…and maybe even a reconciled friendship. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
