Military Honors Given on Saturday to Unidentified Man Who Died in Hopkins County in 1954

Photos from Saturday’s memorial service where military honors were given to John Phinney. Phinney died in Hopkins County in 1954 and for years was “Known Only to God”. Local resident of the Hopkins County Genealogical Society Rhonda Bechhold worked for the past two years to get Phinney the military honors he deserved. His surviving siblings attended the service where Phinney’s new headstone was revealed. The Hopkins County Military Coalition then led a procession to the square where they saluted Phinney’s name on the Veterans Memorial and a presentation was made by the Sons of the American Revolution.
