This week, thanks to his anti-voucher pledge, his support for early childhood education and special needs students, and more, Kendall Scudder became the only candidate in the race for Texas Senate, District 2, rated “Friendly” by Texans for Public Education. [Texans for Public Education, January 31, 2018]

Incumbent Senator Bob Hall received the worst grade of “unfriendly” due to several anti-education positions and votes like voucher support and teacher payroll deductions.

Republican challenger Cindy Burkett, who voted in favor of more than $6 billion in public education cuts got a “neutral” rating.

Texans for Public Education, an organization of current and retired educators, rates incumbents and challengers by voting record, media releases, and websites. It takes 75% of the ratings committee to move someone from neutral to friendly or unfriendly status.

Texas Senate, District 2, Candidate Kendall Scudder issued the following statement:

“Public education is my number one priority. Thank you so much to all of the teachers and school administrators of Texans for Public Education. I look forward to fighting alongside each of you as we work to fully fund our public schools, protect our retired teachers’ defined benefits, and kill school vouchers once and for all.”
