From the SSISD Facebook page:

The SSMS Robotics Team competed Friday, January 19th, in the TCEA Area Robotics Competition held at the Region 8 Education Service Center in Pittsburg, TX. Being only the second year to have a Robotics team, SSMS will be taking 2 teams to the State Competition. Four teams competed in the Intermediate Competition, which allows 4th-8th graders to compete. SSMS had a team consisting of Jacob Semler, Felipe Rodriguez, and Andrew Garcia take 2nd place, out of about 30 teams, advancing to State. Four teams also competed in the Advanced Competition, which allows middle school and high school ages to compete. Competing against 16 high school teams, the SSMS team of Sahib Randhawa, Caleb Talmage, Paige Seagraves, and Katelyn Robinson (not pictured) took 1st place also securing their spot at the State Competition. All 8 teams represented Sulphur Springs well! Feels great to be State Bound in only our second year!
