Funeral Service for Rayburn “Ray” Nichols, age 84, of Yantis, TX will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Stinson officiating.  Interment to follow at Yantis Cemetery with military honors and Mark Thomas, Tyler Nichols, Mark Coker, Nathan Coker, Derryk Wilson and Donald Shugart serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.  Mr. Nichols passed away at ETMC, Tyler on Sunday, January 14, 2018

 

Rayburn Lewis “Ray” Nichols was born on February 22, 1933 in Yantis, Texas, the son of Bennie and Gertie (Coker) Nichols.  He married Fannie Eads on April 19, 1952 in Terrell, Texas.  Ray served in the U.S. Army, was a truck driver and member of the VFW.  He was of the Baptist faith.

 

Ray is survived by his wife, Fannie; daughters, Teresa Smith and husband, Bruce of Houston, TX, Debbie Anders of Yantis; son, Jimmy Nichols and friend, Donna Sees of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister, Bennie Lou Gamblin of Como.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Nichols; brother, Carl Nichols; sister, Cleta Faye Hutchins.

 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
