Graveside service for Joyce (Buddy) Q. Wiler,age 96, of Bayfield, Colorado will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, TX with Rev. Justin Wilson officiating.  Mr. Wiler, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Mercy Regional Hospital in Durango, Colorado. There will be no formal visitation.

Joyce (Buddy) Q. Wiler was born on June 28, 1921 in Saltillo, Texas, the son of James Quentin and Ethel (Blann) Wiler.  He married Juanita Matthews in 1939 in Ardmore, OK and was married for 68 years until she passed in 2005.  Buddy was in the Artillery of the 42 Infantry Division, US Army and served in Belgium, Germany and Austria during WW II.  He was highly decorated with 3 Bronze Stars, two of them for Valor.  His main role was to scout ahead for new command post locations, and therefore was frequently behind German lines.Buddy worked for Mobil Oil for about 30 years and retired as a Geophysicist.   He moved 35 times during his Mobil career living in 9 states before settling in Dallas, Texas.  Buddy was a Master Mason affiliated with Sulphur Springs #221, active in the christian church and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his son Jim Wiler and wife, Abbie of Bayfield, CO.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Ovella Sulleta Wiler Watters.
