Greg Anglin Declares Candidacy for Commissioner of Precinct 2

My name is Greg Anglin and I am declaring my candidacy for the Commissioner of Precinct 2 in Hopkins County.

I am a native of Hopkins County, a resident of 45 years.  My parents are Randy and Linda Anglin and Don and Pansy Bell, also native residents of Hopkins County for over 60 years.  I was raised in the Pickton, Pine Forest and Winterfield communities where I graduated from Como-Pickton Consolidated School District.  I have been, continue and always plan to be a vested, positive contributor of Hopkins County.

I am happily married to Courtney Hettich Anglin, a graduate of Sulphur Springs ISD, and a proud, native resident of Hopkins County.  After venturing outside of Hopkins County to serve other communities in public education, Courtney returned to her East Texas roots in 2012 to pursue her passion of teaching within her alma mater, SSISD.  Courtney currently serves as a special education teacher at Sulphur Springs High School where she is passionate about guiding and supporting her students. We have one son, Caden, age 13.  Caden attends school in the Como-Pickton ISD and will enter as an eighth grader for the 2017-2018 school year.  He is involved in FFA, plays basketball and baseball and enjoys outdoor activities.

With a passion for agriculture, I began dairy farming at the age of fourteen and upon graduating from high school, I took over my grandparent’s dairy operation. In 1996, I entered into the poultry business as a contract grower for Pilgrim’s Pride.  When the time came to sell our dairy business in 2012, my attention turned to baling hay and growing chickens; also my current endeavors.

My family and I attend Shannon Oaks Church in Sulphur Springs as well as Winterfield Church in the Winterfield Community.  I have served as school board member for CPCISD since 2009. Since my time as a board member, I have held the position of Secretary/Treasurer, President and am currently serving as Vice President.  I am a volunteer fireman for the Pickton/Pine Forest communities in which I have gained insights into the many aspects of the fire departments.

I have always been prideful for Hopkins County and privileged to say I am a resident of Hopkins County.  Upon being elected to the Office of Commissioner, I look forward to representing and serving the citizens of Precinct 2.  I also look forward to working with the commissioner’s court and bringing in new ideas to the platform with this growing county.

As a member of the Commissioners’ court, I will help educate and inform Hopkins County of the roles and responsibilities of the commissioner such as taxation, balancing the budget, legislation in Austin, and the responsibilities of the building and maintenance of roads and bridges.
